Плановая сумма прибыли, обеспечивающая ее увязку с целями развития предприятия в предстоящем периоде. Основой этого метода планирования является предварительное определение потребности в собственных финансовых ресурсах, формируемых за счет прибыли, остающейся в распоряжении предприятия (чистой прибыли). Расчет ведется по каждому элементу этой потребности (производственное развитие; выплата дохода владельцам имущества; участие в прибыли персонала и т.п.). Суммарная потребность в средствах, формируемых за счет прибыли, остающейся в распоряжении предприятия, представляет собой целевой размер чистой прибыли предприятия в плановом периоде.
